Founded in 1998 with the support of the Ford Foundation, the Program of Budgeting and Public Spending, CIDE (known by many as Presupuesto-CIDE) has emerged over the last five years as a unique, independent, professional, and credible source on Mexican budget analysis and government reform.
Presupuesto-CIDE has acquired an international reputation for its unique capacity to blend rigorous research and analysis with activities designed to enable policymakers at national, state and local levels, the media, and the general public, to make extensive use of its work.
Presupuesto-CIDE extends and deepens the research and data available, to promote further reform on a daily basis, and facilitates effective and responsive government spending for the needs of the Mexican people.
This program produces solid, analytical reports that are accessible to governmental decision makers, the media, and the general public. Presupuesto-CIDE is concerned with questions related to transparency, corruption, distribution of income, decentralization, expenditure incidence and, administrative and fiscal reform.
